This year's Book Festival, brings together creative minds such as playwright and artist John Byrne, award-winning writers Claire Tomalin, Michael Frayn and Janice Galloway, musician Barbara Dickson, and acclaimed actors Bill Paterson and Isla Blair. Meanwhile, sharing a fascinating insight from the corridors of power will be Alistair Darling, Sarah Brown and Tam Dalyell. Elsewhere in the programme, celebrated historians Norman Davies and Tom Devine look at the distribution of power in the past, while BBC correspondent Allan Little looks at power gone bad in his talk 'Dictators I have Known'.
Events also cover feats of endurance and the great outdoors, with talks by recent Arctic expeditionist and cyclist Mark Beaumont, endurance-runner Andrew Murray, and wild forager and TV gardener Alys Fowler, while popular broadcasters Adam Hart-Davies and James Naughtie promise to entertain the crowds.

And for the family…
The Knight Frank Family Book Festival, is returning strong as ever, with events by the hugely popular Julia Donaldson, War Horse author Michael Morpurgo, Kristina Stephenson and Nick Sharratt, and a party for the 50th anniversary of Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach. This year, Family Day Passes will be available for the first time, offering admission to certain children’s events throughout the day for two adults and up to three children for £22.

For those of strong heart, there are sessions on 'crime capital' Baltimore by a real life homicide detective, an expose of the recent phone hacking scandal by MPs Chris Bryant and Michael Moore and Guardian journalist Dan Sabbagh, and for younger readers, Horrible Histories artist Martin Brown, horror writer Barry Hutchison and a graphic novel workshop by Ross Collins and Vivien French. For the first time, Lennoxlove also introduces a series of 'how to' practical events on getting published and e-publishing, writing for children, and the art of persuasion.
A unique Scottish Festival
Lennoxlove Book Festival runs from 4th - 6th November 2011 and takes place in four venues within the house and grounds of beautiful Lennoxlove House in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland. As well as the ticketed events, there is a well-stocked bookshop, a licensed cafe bar and a wealth of things to see and do throughout the weekend, including lots of free children's activities provided by East Lothian Libraries, free circus skills sessions, a display by Loretto School Pipes and Drums and, to mark Guy Fawkes weekend, a spectacular fireworks display on the opening night. The Festival is made more accessible by a regular free shuttle bus service from Haddington, whilst car parking this year has been improved and a small parking charge introduced.
The Book Festival enjoys the support of East Lothian Council and EventScotland, as well as Queen Margaret University, full service law firm Anderson Strathern, the National Libraries of Scotland, and local companies Lafarge and Vino, who have joined as new sponsors this year.
